SACRAMENTO (July 29, 2004) – The Sacramento-based Capital City Mountain Goats Four Wheel Drive Club invites four-wheel drive enthusiasts to join them for their 17^th annual Grand 4-Wheel Drive Excursion and Epicurean Extravaganza at the Big Meadows Campground in the picturesque El Dorado National Forest, Friday evening, Sept. 10 through early Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12.

According to Rob Irvine, one of the event organizers, the 2004 extravaganza will feature a lavish six-course dinner on Saturday night prepared and served by members of the club. He said guests will be provided formal t-shirts, a gourmet champagne dinner with a choice of prime rib or chicken cordon bleu and live entertainment and open air dancing with music provided by The McPherson Brothers.

"We have been hosting this event for the past 17 years," said Irvine, "and it just seems to get better every year. Our club members thoroughly enjoy cooking a good meal, showing off the popular and challenging Hell Hole Trail, and spending quality time with our four-wheel drive brethren."

This year’s Extravaganza will kick off on Friday evening with chilidogs, a bonfire and a no-host bar. Following a continental breakfast on Saturday morning, the group will be led down the Hell Hole Trail to the Hell Hole Reservoir where lunch will be provided. On Sunday morning, guests will be treated to a hot buffet breakfast followed by a raffle extraordinaire.

Cost for the 2004 Extravaganza is $125 per adult and the event is limited to the first 75 participants. Cost includes all meals, camping fees, one dash plaque per vehicle, t-shirts, hot showers and the four-wheel drive adventure. Big Meadows Campground offers running water and restrooms.
