LAND ROVER ROCKLIN AND CAPITAL CITY MOUNTAIN GOATS
4X4 CLUB FORM PARTNERSHIP FOR SAFE OFF ROADING

Janette Orr.jpg (79939 bytes)SACRAMENTO (Oct. 27, 2004) – Land Rover Rocklin, one of the premier Land Rover dealerships in California, and the Sacramento-based Capital City Mountain Goats four-wheel drive club recently formed a partnership to share ideas on backcountry travel and mutual safety and environmental suggestions on their respective websites.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have teamed with such a tremendous club," said Elizabeth Axelgard, who has served as the Rocklin centre’s general manager since its opening in January 2002. "We are announcing the club’s hands-on four-wheel drive safety clinics at the Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area as well as club-hosted sport utility vehicle trips throughout northern California."

Land Rover Rocklin.jpg (65083 bytes)Axelgard said that her Rocklin centre offers a short off-road rock strewn course on which to demonstrate the versatility of their vehicles; however, she also encourages new owners to consider signing up for the periodic one-day, four-wheel drive, hands-on safety clinics that are taught by certified instructors from the Capital City Mountain Goats at the Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area, located approximately 20 miles east of Sacramento.

Dennis Bartholomew, a member of the Capital City Mountain Goats, was instrumental in forming the partnership and was recently afforded an opportunity to ride through the Land Rover Rocklin off road course. "Entering the course, we were subjected to a 37 degree tilt which can be a bit unnerving to anyone who hasn’t been rock crawling before," said Bartholomew.

"Riding in a new Range Rover, we crawled up a small mountain and then down through a 2-foot pond. The driver must make a decision on whether to do it with a manual transmission or an automatic transmission, since either mode is available with the flick of a switch. I was very impressed with the vehicle performance and the course," said Bartholomew.
