At 8 a.m. the gates swung open and many headed to Hall #5 to check out the tire and racing exhibits on Moab Rim Trail and Sledgehammer Trail. Others made a beeline for Hall #6 to see the latest performance products on Golden Spike Trail and Matomi Road.

It didn’t take long and the rush was on in Hall #4 and visitors were making their way down the Glamis Dunes Trail to visit exhibits and vehicles provided by the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs and the Used Oil Recycling display provided by the Association’s Conservation & Education Foundation.

According to Off Road Expo organizers, more than 40,000 persons attended this year’s event that attracted hundreds of manufacturers and organizations from throughout the United States and some foreign countries.

The CA4WDC display, that offered hundreds of items for sale and association memberships, was staffed by Val and Dave Henry as well as Association president Bob Reed and Ray Leuschner.

Jack Raudy was the exhibitor for the Used Oil Recycling Program and Kathy and Wade Ferguson were on hand to display and sell tickets for the Jeep Liberty Sweepstakes Vehicle.

"This is a tremendous event and a wonderful opportunity for CA4WDC and the Conservation & Education Foundation to meet with thousands of enthusiasts ranging from off-road racing to motocross and four-wheeling to serious rock crawling," said Val Henry, who serves as the membership chair for the Association’s south district. "We really want to express our appreciation to Guy Petersen, president of Petersen Events Corporation for providing us with the space and affording us this opportunity."

Val Henry said sales during the two-day event were outstanding and many people stopped by to sign up as new members for the Association. In addition, ticket sales for the Jeep Liberty were brisk and everyone visiting the Used Oil Recycling booth left with a "goodie" bag consisting of a brochure, coloring book and crayons, tire gauge, oil funnel and refrigerator magnet.
