FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE MOUNTAIN PROGRAMS
SEEKING VOLUNTEER FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CLUBS
Camp WAMP (Wheelchair Accessible Mountain Programs), located south of Johnsville in Sierra County, is requesting volunteer assistance from the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs.
"We have four days in August where we would welcome four-wheel drive individuals and clubs to participate in driving our physically disabled kids to our Hawley Lake Camp," said Steve Wampler, CEO of Camp WAMP. Wampler said the camp is located in Gold Valley in the Plumas National Forest at Hawley Lake.
The days requested for volunteer assistance are Saturday, Aug. 7; Saturday, Aug. 14; Sunday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 22.
Staging to pick up the campers will be at the Plumas-Eureka State Park, Museum and Ranger Station, located approximately 1.5 hours north of Truckee off Highway 89. From the park, volunteers will escort the campers with their wheelchairs off road to their camp at Hawley Lake.
"We know that four-wheel drive enthusiasts assist many different disabled organizations throughout California and we hope we can count on your generosity to help us out for four days in August," Wampler said.
For more information or to volunteer to help out Camp WAMP in August, please contact Steve Wampler at (619) 957-4285 or email swampler1@san.rr.com or Cameron Smith at (916) 296-5832 or email smithcam@worldnet.att.net.
