Sacramento, CA. February 21, 2001.
Blue Ribbon Coalition President Jack

Welch attended the 42nd annual convention of the California Association of  Four Wheel Drive Clubs (CA4WDC) and came away with a increased appreciation of the four-wheeling opportunities and challenges in California. Jack said he felt part of the CA4WDC family and was impressed with the level of commitment of so many folks to recreation. "Cal4 folks are passionate about their sport," Jack said. He added, "I was heartened to see the camaraderie of over 400 wheelers at the banquet and awards ceremony. It was truly a pleasure to attend such a great event." BRC has partnered up with CA4WDC to fight other battles such as Black Sands Beach and the southern California desert closures at Glamis/Imperial Dunes. David Douglas, President of the CA4WDC said, "It's unfortunate we have to take our access rights to the courts; but if that's what it takes, we're glad to have Blue Ribbon as our partner."

The Blue Ribbon Coalition represents over 700,000 members in national multiple use issues. With a heavy-hitting legal fund, the BRC is able to join forces with local, regional and state organizations to fight the battles to keep public lands FOR the public in stead of FROM the public. Jack was especially pleased when the representatives of the Tierra Del Sol 4 Wheel Drive Club (TDS), contributed $5000 to the BRC Legal Fund. "Many Cal4 clubs contribute to BRC, but this donation from the TDS event is a significant help to our cause. We're very glad to be on the same team," Jack noted.

The Blue Ribbon Coalition is a national recreation group that champions responsible multiple-use of public lands. It represents over 1, 150 organizations and businesses with approximately 600,000 members. For more information on this or other issues, please visit our website: http://www.sharetrails.org
