I just got word that the Tahoe national Forest (TNF) will propose adding five official campsites along the Rubicon to the Travel Plan. I say 'propose' but it sounded like it would be a done deal.

The sites are: 1-just before the old water hole west of Miller Lake (elevated to south) 2-at the Miller Lake turn out (north side with two metal fire pits) 3-just west of Miller Lake to the south (almost lake front) 4-brain fart, I can't remember the fourth one 5) just east of Observation (in the trees on the north side).

Oservation Point will also be added to make pulling out there for photo opportunities legal.

These won't be on the Travel Map currently being handed out but will be recognized by the TNF.

I had to look it up but the other camp is just west of the old water hole. Be careful there because there is a huge snag over that campground entrance. It's leaning at a 45 degree angle but is secure for now. We'll see what the winter will do to it.
