The CA4WDC Foundation Scholarship Fund is a dedicated fund specifically designated for post secondary educational grants to CA4WDC Inc. members or their children.  The CA4WDC, Inc. Life Members in Honor of Bud Hammers administer the Fund.  There shall be no Association or Foundation budgeted monies used to support this fund, other than office staff time to handle the paperwork.  It is the responsibility of the CA4WDC, Inc. office to send out application forms upon request.  Once the application is received by the office, the office shall check the membership status of each applicant and make a copy for the Foundation President and the Chairperson to be appointed by the Foundation.  The Scholarship Review committee shall consist of the Life Members in attendance at the annual Life Member Breakfast at the annual CA4WDC, Inc. Convention. 

 The winner(s) shall be announced at the annual convention.  The Foundation Office shall send a notification letter to all applicants. 

 Donors to the CA4WDC Foundation Scholarship Fund shall receive a thank you letter with tax information from the Foundation Treasurer for their donation.

 The Chairperson shall be responsible for the publication of a news release to be printed each September, October, and November in the CA4WDC, Inc. In-Gear, announcing the Scholarship Fund availability.

 Proof of acceptance or enrollment is to be submitted to the office for Scholarship award payment to be initiated and mailed to the applicant.

 Scholarship Guidelines

 Qualifications:

1.            Parent, legal guardian, or applicant must be a CA4WDC, Inc. member in good standing.

2.            Scholarships shall be available for any college, university, trade school, or other school of higher learning.

3.            Applications must be received by the CA4WDC office by December 31^st.  Incomplete applications shall be disqualified.

4.            Consideration of an application shall be based on the following criteria.

a.       Academic standing.  Overall GPA 2.0 or better.  Include transcript with application.

b.      Financial need.

c.       Association involvement.

5.            Applicants and award winner(s) may submit an application annually. Prior attempts or awards do not remove one’s name from consideration.

 Funding:

1.            All monies disbursed as awards shall come from donations to the CA4WDC Foundation Scholarship Fund.  All monies received by the Foundation for the scholarship fund shall be recorded in the scholarship line item.

2.            Expenses to operate the scholarship fund shall come from the donated funds.

3.            The funds to be disbursed shall be decided by the life members in attendance at the annual Life Member Breakfast.

4.            All funds must be used within one year from being awarded.

 Payments:

1.            The award is to be payable to the student named on the application.  If there is a change of information regarding the applicant’s name and/or address, it is the winner’s responsibility to notify the Foundation office as soon as possible.  Proof of acceptance or enrollment at the educational institution must be presented to the Foundation office prior to disbursement of funds.

2.            The Scholarship must be used for tuition, books or room and board.

 Termination:

The CA4WDC, Inc. Life Members in Honor of Bud Hammers Scholarship participation in the scholarship program may be terminated by a vote of the Life Members or the Foundation Board of Trustees.  Upon termination of the program, the monies remaining in the fund shall be transferred to the Foundation’s general fund.
