Pollock Pines – Wentworth Springs, CA

June 14th, 2008

Our 37th Poker Run is scheduled for Father’s Day weekend. We are returning to the Ice House area, with our Main Camp at South Fork camp ground. Our run will include portions of the Rubicon Trail. Hi-Landers are looking forward to another exciting event! The first vehicles lined up at the trailhead at 6:15 a.m. will be the first to leave on the run. Three additional groups of vehicles will leave at 1-hour intervals thereafter. The last group will leave at 9:30 a.m. No vehicles will be allowed on the trail after 9:30 a.m. Send in your registration early as we have a limited number of spots available.

LICENSED DRIVERS ONLY 18 YRS & OLDER!

This year we are offering pre-orders on Event T-shirts. We will have a limited number available at the event but pre-ordering assures you of getting exactly what you want. Pre-ordered items will be ready for pick up with your check in packet.

THERE WILL BE A SAFETY INSPECTION ON YOUR VEHICLE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE ON THE RUN. SAFETY INSPECTION OCCURS FRIDAY NIGHT UPON ARRIVAL UNTIL 10:30 PM. (LATE ARRIVAL INSPECTION IS SATURDAY MORNING). ALL VEHICLES MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY EQUIPMENT:

Minimum 31" Tires

Seat belts for each occupant.

NOTE: TRAIL BOSS has the final say on individual safety requirements.

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE IN BY MAY 31st, OR UNTIL RUN IS FULL

(which ever comes first) NO REFUNDS AFTER MAY 31st, 2008.

The New Poker Run trail offers more challenges for our participants this year. Though we feel confident that most any 4 Wheel Drive vehicle can navigate through the new trail, we caution that there is a greater possibility of vehicle damage than in previous years. We will have spotters at all of the difficult areas on the trail to assist you, so that your trail ride is an enjoyable one.

After the Trail Run we have a whole Saturday evening of events planned. First there is barbeque style dinner of Steak or Chicken as the main dish along with all the usual Hi-Landers side dishes (Beans, Corn on the Cob, Green Salad, Rolls and Dessert). Dinners are available by pre order only with your registration form, adults are $12.00, and Kids are $6.00. A child’s dinner is approximately half the size of an adult if your kid is big and hungry you may want to adult size it for them. Following dinner is the awards ceremonies, followed by the raffle drawing first up is the kids then the big kids (adult) raffle. Finally the dance floor opens and our entertainment will keep you going till the wee hours of the morning. Don’t miss our famous Whistle Dancers they typically make there appearance an hour or two into the dance.

Directions to our base camp: Take Highway 50 east out of Sacramento, 8.4 miles from the Pollock Pines/Sly Park Exit you will come upon a left turn lane that turns onto Ice House Road (Crystal Basin). Turn left onto Ice House Road, travel 22.5 miles down Ice House Road. You will come to a major intersection called Wentworth springs road, do not turn onto that road but proceed past it about 200 feet and then take that left it is the road to our base camp located at the South Fork Group Camp Ground. The South Fork Campground is 0.8 miles down this road on your right. There are lots of camping sights at our base camp and at numerous other nearby Forest Service Camp Grounds. Due to slow traveling on the winding Ice House Road it will take you approximately one hour to reach our base camp once you turn off of highway 50 onto Ice House Road, take it easy and enjoy the scenery.
