Panamint Valley Days Written by Ginger Hughes The south district is gearing up for the 21st Annual Panamint Valley Days (PVD). PVD will be held November 10-12th in Panamint Valley, which is located just outside of Trona. This year’s chairman, Ray Leuschner, and his committee are working hard to make this an event you won’t want to miss. As usual, there will be lots and lots of runs! There will be mild runs for stock vehicles, and the not so experienced driver that even some of you experienced drivers with hardcore vehicles will want to run just to see the beautiful scenery and visit the mines. There is lots of mining history in the Panamint area and many of the run leaders have taken the time to research it for you. Unfortunately we have lost many of the runs in the area, but there are still a few rough runs for the experienced driver. PVD offers runs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Friday you have the opportunity of going on two runs. Jail Canyon is a ½ day run that gets you back to camp in time to head out on one of the sunset runs – Auguereberry Point or Lookout City, plus we have several all day runs. Most of Saturday’s runs are all day runs, but there are a few that will get you back in camp a little earlier. Sunday’s runs will have you back to comp early enough to pack up and head home. Many of the runs have been confirmed; however, there are some runs that still need trail leaders: If you are interested in leading a trail, contact this year’s PVD trail boss, John Snell. Chef Andy and the Ruff Rock Run Café will be there all weekend long and will be serving breakfast and dinner for those of you that would like to make a true vacation out of the weekend. You guys trying to get the woman in your life to believe that this will be a GREAT weekend might want to remind her that she won’t have to do any cooking or dishes. Saturday night the café will be serving a deep pit BBQ will all the fixings and during the raffle there will be Strawberry Shortcake and Panamint Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Speaking of raffles, there will be two: one for the kids and one for the adults. As usual there will be lots and lots of prizes – many of them donated by individuals and clubs. If you are interested in donating to either of the raffles, contact the appropriate chairman.
