We are a family oriented group of 4-wheelers that enjoy trail riding, camping and sharing those experiences with others. Established in 1976, the South County Trail-Riders 4X4 Club (SCTR) is a member of the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc. (CA4WDC) and several of our members hold Life Membership in CA4WDC.

SCTR actively participates in CA4WDC matters via delegate attendance at District meetings and at the annual Convention.

We also work closely with the U.S. Forest Service through their "Adopt-A-Trail" program. SCTR adopted the very popular Deer Valley Trail over twenty years ago. Accessed from Highway 88 at Hope Valley, the trail begins at Lower Blue Lake and ends at Hermit Valley on Highway 4.We make this run at least twice a year to perform trail maintenance and cleanup.

The club has been a big supporter of CA4WDCs annual "Sierra Trek" event and has served as the Short Wheelbase Rolling Trail Committee for many years, assisting participants across the Fordyce Creek Trail, one of the most demanding 4WD trails in the Sierra Nevada's.

Members meet monthly to plan our outings and to conduct other club business. We usually have trips planned for a couple of months in advance so members can plan their time. We are a local South Bay Area club (originated in Fremont, CA - Southern Alameda County) now meeting in Milpitas, CA, and our members are located as far away as Carson City, NV. We meet often for travel outings across trails that range in difficulty from very easy, to the extreme. We plan single day trips as well as weekend trips and attempt to have at least one 4WD run per month. We also have family-oriented social events such as our annual Christmas party.

SCTR is open to all types of 4-wheel drive vehicles and to owners having various levels of off road experience - from beginner to expert!
