About the club

The treasures we seek are the lore, history and natural beauty of the California Sierra Nevada Mountains and surrounding areas.

The Sierra Treasure Hunters host at least one field trip (see "trips" button) per month in addition to the monthly membership meetings. During the warmer months of the year, a barbecue or pizza party is usually added onto the monthly agenda in order to facilitate yet another opportunity to socialize.

What is "Four Wheeling"?

Four Wheeling, or Off-Roading, does not involve crushing turtles, blazing new trails, and shredding up pristine mountain meadows as some environmental groups would like you to believe. Four Wheeling is done on established roads and trails, most of which have been in existence for hundreds of years.

Being able to take a vehicle off highway and into the back country for a special hiking, camping or fishing trip is something that many of us take for granted. Public lands that we were once able to drive on are being closed to vehicular access at an alarming rate. No more secluded campsite for the family, no more access to that great fishing hole; unless, of course, you are in tiptop shape and you can pack all food, water and equipment in by foot.

Closure of our public lands is of great concern to four-wheelers. That is why we must do everything possible to use our public and private lands responsibly. That means "Treading Lightly," maintaining trails, leaving nothing but tire tracks and hauling out other people's trash as well as your own; *that* is what Four Wheeling is to the Sierra Treasure Hunters.
